Cabinetry Options For Your Home

If you’re looking for cabinets for your home, you’ll want to consider your options before making a decision. Do you want custom made cabinetry or those that you can buy off the shelf at your local building supply warehouse? There are pros and cons to both options and you’ll need to take cost, durability, and appearance into consideration.

If you’re leaning toward custom-made cabinets, there are definitely some positives. These products can be made to fit your exact configuration and needs. Dimensions, materials, style, and hardware can be set up just the way you specify. Of course, there are negatives, too, such as the price tag and the waiting time till they arrive at your house for installation. It all takes time, which costs money to construct them to your unique specifications, transport them to your address, then install them complete with finishing touches.

If you decide to go with readymade cabinets, there are pros and cons to consider. Some positives include cost factor and convenience. Since they were made at the factory en masse, it was faster and easier to construct them. Since time is money, they won’t cost as much as the detailed custom made variety. In fact, they may be half as expensive as the custom cabinetry that was built to your specifications. Although you won’t have as much control over the design and accessories, if you’re flexible, you can make these stock versions work for you.

Whether you order those custom made by a carpenter or pick up enough stock cupboards to outfit your whole house, you can select a variety of materials in both types. If you are a fan of timber, you can choose birch, cherry, oak, or pine. There are also contemporary versions that come in laminate products as well as stainless steel. If you have chosen wooden cabinets, you can have the wood stained or painted to suit your preferences. Laminates come in an array of colors, too. Hardware for pulls and knobs come in different types of metals, plastics, colors, and shapes. There are some pulls and knobs that look like crystal balls and others that look like metallic leaves, seashells, or flowers.

When it’s time to choose cabinets for your home, there are multiple options. You can choose readymade or custom constructed by a carpenter. You can choose classic wooden cupboards or opt for a more contemporary look from stainless steel or laminate. By adding unique hardware in pulls and knobs, you can make a one-of-a-kind design statement.
